Difficulty Starting Low-Temperature Resistant Electric Cylinders in Cold Environments? 3 Core Solutions to the Action Lag ProblemMar 16, 2026

In extremely low-temperature environments, some of our customers encounter issues such as difficult startup and delayed movement of low-temperature-resistant electric cylinders. So how can we solve these problems?

To address the startup difficulties of low-temperature-resistant electric cylinders in cold environments, no complex modifications are required. The problem can be quickly improved through the following practical steps:

Pre-Start Preheating — Low cost, fast results

Before formal operation, switch the low-temperature-resistant electric cylinder to low-speed, low-load mode and run it reciprocally with no load for 5–10 minutes. The heat generated by internal components warms and thins the grease, reducing frictional resistance. Meanwhile, mechanical parts adapt to the ambient temperature, providing immediate relief for startup difficulties.

Use Specialized Grease — Optimize at the source

Consult our technical team to replace the grease with a special low-temperature formula (low pour point). It maintains excellent fluidity at -20°C and even lower temperatures, fundamentally resolving lubrication resistance.

Note: Even with low-temperature specialized grease, regular replacement every 2,000 operating hours is still required to ensure consistent lubrication performance.

Environmental and Electrical Protection — All-round safeguard

If the electric cylinder operates long-term in low-temperature environments, a simple thermal insulation cover or local heating device can be installed to improve the surrounding microclimate.

At the same time, check the stability of the motor supply voltage and secure connections for sensors and signal cables to prevent electrical issues from worsening startup failures.

If you need electric cylinders that operate stably in extreme environments such as low temperatures and high humidity, or have clear requirements for protection ratings (such as IP67), please feel free to contact us. Our electric cylinders for special environments have passed rigorous testing and can adapt to harsh working conditions.
