Core Differences & Applicable Scenarios: IP65 vs IP67 Dustproof Grade for Screw Electric CylindersApr 21, 2026

The core differences between IP65 and IP67 protection grades of screw electric cylinders lie in waterproof performance, sealing structure and applicable environments. Both reach the highest Level 6 in dust resistance, with waterproof capability being the key distinguishing factor.
In terms of dustproof performance, both ratings provide complete dust protection of IP6X. They effectively block all solid particles such as dust and sand from entering the cylinder interior, protecting precision components including screws and motors. Both adopt a combined structure of dust rings and labyrinth sealing as the basic protection.
Water resistance serves as the major distinction.
IP65 is rated against water jetting. The screw electric cylinder can withstand water spray from any direction, with a nozzle diameter of 6.3 mm, a distance of 2.5 meters and a water flow of 12.5 L/min, without harmful water ingress. It adopts a single-layer fluororubber lip seal paired with a breathable pressure relief valve, which only resists direct water impact and cannot withstand immersion.

IP67 is designed for short-term water immersion. The screw electric cylinder can be continuously immersed in 1-meter-deep clean water for 30 minutes with no harmful penetration. It features a dual-sealing structure and fully enclosed end covers. The inner layer uses fluororubber seals while the outer layer adopts perfluoroelastomer seals. The motor end is equipped with waterproof aviation connectors, and sealing gaskets are added at cylinder joints, delivering far stronger waterproof performance than IP65.
For application scenarios:
IP65 screw electric cylinders are suitable for dry, dusty environments with occasional water rinsing, such as machining workshops, warehousing equipment and general automated production lines. They meet daily dustproof and splash-proof demands with cost advantages, making them a universal industrial option.
IP67 screw electric cylinders apply to humid conditions with frequent water spraying and short-term water contact, including food processing machinery, car washing equipment, outdoor automation and damp underground mining environments. They withstand frequent flushing and temporary immersion with superior protection, at a slightly higher cost.
In model selection, choose IP65 if only dustproof and slight splash resistance are required. Prioritize IP67 for humid, water-prone, outdoor or regular washing working conditions. For long-term underwater operation, select IP68-rated electric cylinders. IP67 products must never be used for prolonged immersion scenarios.
